MANAS Delegates Met Health Minister

On 18 February 2024, MANAS delegation led by president Prof. Dr. ArupRatan Choudhury met with Dr. Samanta Lal Sen, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare at his office at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The delegation included Senior Technical Advisor of Vital Strategies Adv. Syed Mahbubul Alam, Project Coordinator, Umm Jannat, and Senior Project and Communication Officer Abu Raihan were present.

In the meeting, MANAS informed the Minister towards taking priority steps for effective tobacco control in Bangladesh to reduce the burden of death and diseases. Including strengthening tobacco control law, approval of the roadmap to make tobacco-free Bangladesh, to implement the National Tobacco Control Program, and finalizing the National Tobacco Control Policy. The Health Minister assured that his Ministry will take all possible action in the implementation of tobacco control Programs.
