Professor Dr. Arupratan Choudhury was awarded for his contribution in Tobacco Control by The Ministry of Railways
Freedom Fighter Professor Dr. Arupratan Choudhury, PhD., founder and President, of MANAS (Madok Drabo o Nesha Norodh Sagastha) awarded by the Ministry of Railways for his contribution to tobacco control in Bangladesh. Dr. Choudhury received this honor award from the Honorable Minister of Railways Md. Nurul Islam Sujan, MP, Chief Guest of the ceremony; Awarding ceremony 2022 for developing smoke-free and tobacco-free railway services; on February 07, 2023, in the meeting room of the Ministry of Railways. Other seven people from the Ministry of Railways were also awarded on the occasion for their commendable contribution to making railways tobacco-free.
The Director General of Bangladesh Railways Md. Kamrul Ahsan was the special guest in the program under the Chairmanship of the Secretary of the Ministry of Railways Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir, Hossain Ali Khondkar, Coordinator of the National Tobacco Control Cell (Additional Secretary) and Shafiqul Islam, Head of Programs of Vital Strategies-Bangladesh also participated as honorable speakers.
Md. Nurul Islam Sujan, MP said all ministries, offices, and departments should work together to implement the announcement of a tobacco-free Bangladesh by the Honorable Prime Minister for tobacco control.
Professor Dr. Arupratan Chowdhury said I have been working relentlessly against Tobacco and drug abuse for the last 40 years as my social responsibility. I sincerely thank everyone for the honor given by Bangladesh Railway. This award will further contribute to my responsibilities.
