State Minister of Health Assured Support in Tobacco Control

On 23 April 2024, MANAS delegation led by MANAS president Professor Dr. ArupRatan Choudhury met Dr. Rokeya Sultana, Hon’ble State Minister, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to inform about the importance of tobacco control measures to reduce disease and medical expenses as she is appointed in the ministry early in the March. The delegation highlighted the context and ongoing steps of Bangladesh in tobacco control in their discussion, especially TC law amendments, Tobacco free Bangladesh Roadmap, National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP). The State Minister assured his utmost cooperation in the matter. The delegation included Senior Technical Advisor of Vital Strategies Adv. Syed Mahbubul Alam, Project Manager of Bureau of Economic Research (BER) Mr. Hamidul Islam Hillol, Project Coordinator of MANAS, Umme Jannat and Senior Project and Communication Officer Abu Rayhan.
